Anamaria is the only female pirate of Jack's crew, and the only female pirate in the film. It is bad luck to have a woman on board, but Anamaria is welcomed by Jack since he owes her a ship.

The extent of Anamaria's history with Jack is unknown, but it is known that Jack stole (or borrowed without permission) Anamaria's boat, a fishing dory by the name of "The Jolly Mon", and sailed it into Port Royal where it remains docked underwater. She is a strong woman, and able to put enough fear into Jack Sparrow to make him promise her another boat--a better one, too.

Jack: No, that one I deserved.

Anamaria: You stole my boat!
Jack: Actually (she slaps him again)... borrowed, borrowed without permission. But with every intention of bringing it back to you.
Anamaria: But you didn’t!
Jack: You’ll get another one.
Anamaria: (threatening) I will.
Will: A better one.
Jack: A better one!
Will: That one. (points to the Interceptor)
Jack: What one? That one?! Aye! That one. What say you?
Anamaria: Aye!

Gibbs: No, no, no, no, no, it’s frightful bad luck to bring a woman aboard, sir.
Jack: It’d be far worse not to have her.

Anamaria: The Black Pearl, she’s gaining on us.
Elizabeth: This is the fastest ship in the Caribbean.
Anamaria: You can tell them that after they’ve caught us.

Anamaria: Lighten the ship, stem to stern.
Gibbs: Anything that we can afford to lose...see that it’s lost!

Anamaria: You’re daft, lady! You both are!
Gibbs: Daft like Jack!

Anamaria: Captain Sparrow... the Black Pearl is yours.
